Real Life Installations

As we draw closer and closer to our installation date, the list of things to do seems to keep growing! Per show house rules, we had to be finished with construction and paint by the end of this past weekend. Our last touch-ups were made on the paint, and then on Friday it was time to hang our chandelier.

We had our installation company pick-up the chandelier at Baker, and bring it hanging (there was no box with it) over to the show house. We also had our electrician meet us there. We were ready to hang the stunning glass chandelier, and we discovered that it arrived with no hanging hardware. This discovery came shortly after 4pm, so by that time it was too late in the day. We picked up the hardware we needed, and planned on meeting the following day.

Saturday morning, we met at the show house with all of the necessary hardware, however the installation didn't quite go as planned. The team of electricians worked hard preparing the chandelier for hanging, and were in the middle of installing it when disaster struck. The wiring pulled apart, and although the chandelier was still being held by an electrician below, the glass canopy shattered. It was a complete accident, but it sure was heart breaking.

Luckily, we were able to come up with a solution, and after several painstaking hours, the chandelier was up.   Despite the stress that the chandelier has caused, we can honestly say it was worth it. We think it looks pretty amazing in the space, and we hope you'll agree!

As designers, we have to constantly be ready to think on our feet. There is never an installation when everything goes as planned, and there are always surprises. Sometimes things break, and sometimes things don't make it on time, but we have to do the best we can to correct and solve the situation.

New Source for Hardware

We were checking out one of our client's Pinterest pages today, and have stumbled across some amazing hardware that she found. The hardware is designed by Nest Studio out of New Jersey, and you can shop their collection here.

We were super excited to see it, and we love the mixed materials and updated forms used in the designs. The hardware is unlike anything we have seen before, and we are completely smitten! We hope to be using this on an upcoming bathroom renovation. How stunning would this be on a vanity?!

Parlour Paint and Lighting

First of all, we would love to wish you all a Happy New Year! We hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday season!

Although it is only our second day back of work in 2013, we are lucky to be crazy busy! The installation for the Inspiration Showhouse is only 2 weeks away. All of the orders have been placed, but there is still tons to do. Sometimes, it's the finishing touches and details that take the most work.

We don't want to reveal everything yet, because we love some element of surprise, but check out a sneak peak of our paint colors and lighting below. All specs and pricing will be available when the showhouse opens, but feel free to contact us with questions or comments before.

We look forward to sharing with you soon!
